Why I am here ….
Hello …
I’m Mel, and I’m passionate about helping people be healthy.
Life’s twists and turns has brought me here to this moment when I am able to use all my talents to help my clients discover where they want to go with their health journeys and how to get there with grace.
I have seen firsthand how our medical system fails patients in their quests to live a healthy life.
For over twenty years, I have been a personal health advocate for myself and my own chronic gut condition, for my son, for my elderly parents through cancers, autoimmune diseases, and in-home peritoneal dialysis for kidney failure, and for countless friends and relatives along the way.
And I have realized along the way that it’s all connected – body and mind – and we are all connected. To live a healthy life means to be well in mind, body, and spirit. Being healthy looks different for each and every person. And I trust that each person – given the time and the space – can discover what they need to be healthy and how to get there. My coaching sessions – solo or group – provide that sacred time and space for us to delve into what you need to heal.
My career as an environmental lawyer has allowed me to appreciate how the human body is an ecosystem every bit as complex as the natural world around us. And like the biosphere, our internal ecosystem needs balance and harmony to be well.
Imbalances in our culture lead to worse health outcomes for Latino communities around me. Being Mexican born and Spanish speaking, it is my mission to work on solutions for this health inequity. My coaching work is rooted in a belief that I want my clients to be healthy and help others – and I want to help others be healthy.
“A su salud” – literally “to your health” – is how we toast in Mexico. And working on your health should indeed be a celebration. Let’s celebrate your healthiest self in our work together.
¡A su salud!
“Mel was so fun and practical. I had some health goals that I had a hard time implementing. I was surprised how small Mel was able to break goals down into meaningful, realistic steps for me to make progress. Mel also was able to notice and speak into some mental blocks I had that were prohibiting me. I’m very thankful for her help.”
